Books I Recommend: Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant

this is a novel that feels like family, like I got so invested to each of the character easily, I don't know, maybe because the story is relatable or it may have reminded me of my own even if the story is truly different from mine.  Relatable but different from mine, it doesn't make sense but that's what I felt, FAMILY.

my favorites from this book...

life is a continual shoring up, against one thing and another just eroding and crumbling away

I'm trying to get through life as a liquid

yes, after all, this choosing of mates was such a small, brief stage in a family's history

you're old for so much longer than you're young

she felt textureless so that events just slid right off her with no friction whatsoever

anything that makes you happy or sad, isn't it all based on minutes going by? isn't happiness expecting something time is going to bring you? isn't sadness wishing back time again?

we don't all just change for change's sake
