Wikipedia says A cortado is a beverage that consists of espresso coffee mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk to reduce the acidity. Importantly, the milk in a cortado is generally not frothy or foamy, but more dense.
But it's actually Cortadito I heard first - from a tv series. It's from a Cuban coffee place in Miami I recalled.
I still don't know the difference/similarity of cortado and cortadito. The latter they say is like Italy's macchiato. One blog says that Cortadito is Cuba's version of Cortados.
I am not a coffee fanatic but hubby is so I thought if cortado is what it seems to be, hubby should know of it. But popular coffee shops here doesn't have that in their menu so when I saw Harlan + Holden announced their Cortado, and Costa their Corto, I urged hubby to try it.
In Harlan + Holden, I only had a sip of his cortado and like his other caffeine fix (Irish, Vietnamese - just what I remember for now) they all seem the same to me - bitter. It's like I will be awake for a week if I dared try to have a cup. Or I'd have instant headache if I forced myself to. Meanwhile I ordered iced mocha but he also ended up drinking it too. Harlan + Holden (Greenbelt 5, 2f) only had muffins to accompany their coffees. It isn't as busy as the popular coffee shops but I think when you're really into coffee and not their sugary versions this one's for you.
