Bingsu or bingsoo is a very popular and elaborate snack/dessert in Korea, especially during the summer season. This snack is composed of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, various fruits such as strawberries, kiwifruit, and bananas, small pieces of tteok (rice cake), chewy jelly bits, and cereal flakes. I remember when Hobing was new in Glorietta area, we hardly see many people inside. When summer began (and I think it has a lot to do with the emergence of Kpop series too), suddenly we couldn't find available seats any longer. But we understood the hype because bingsoo was the perfect summer treat evidently. We've tried 2 stores so far, Hobing and Ice Flower. Both serve bingsoo at nearly the same price. I think they will only differ with who serves the powdery-fine ice the best and who doesn't scrimp on the toppings (or milk maybe).
Here are a few pics of what we've tried and enjoyed by far...
