I was in high school when I learned to trim my own bangs. My friend taught me how and it wasn't as simple as you and I might have thought but manageable enough that if cut the wrong way, it can still be hidden discreetly. From then on I preferred to do it my way. Now that I choose NOT to wear it ala-Dora, this article from a magazine taught me this time how to side swept it. So if you must, go ahead and give it a go.
