Books I Recommend: Where We Belong

When we were young we make big decisions we think would salvage us from the mistakes we've made. And then would regret. But when we look back 20, 30 years from now we'd realize it wasn't that big a deal.

I believe in regrets. I'm not most who say they don't regret things because they wouldn't be where they are now if not for those decisions made, which is true but I acknowledge those regrets and believe that even if things would have been a whole lot different, I know that wherever it will lead me, I will still be where I am ought to be.

Here are my favorite lines from the book....

The urge to sleep is a powerful biological response to stress and pain.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Saying nothing is better than saying the wrong thing.

We're not generic and vanilla.

But that's how relationships are. They go in cycles...it's all about vigilance....and communication.

Nothing is what it once seemed to be-and it occurs to me that this is the nature of keeping secrets.

Tell the truth at any cost. Even when it's not convenient. Even if it means hurting others.

Life is fast. And it keeps speeding up.

When in doubt, go ahead and eat.

It isn't really about the news. It's about the act of telling it, finally.

Marian: He hates me.
Kirby: It's better than not caring at all.

Things are what they are and there's no point dwelling in the past or what could have been.

Optimism is the foundation of courage.

Anything worthwhile is tough.

There are so many things I want to say, yet my mind goes blank and all I can do is feel.
