Books I Recommend: Being Kendra

My favorite quotes in this book are...

I left it all behind because I knew it wasn’t where it was supposed to be.

You should be getting it. Get it while the getting is good.

Being a mom and a wife has changed me in ways I never thought imaginable.

I’m the person I never ever knew I could be. And I love it. This is my new story.

Raising kids in Hollywood doesn’t mean your kid has to grow up with famous friends.

I think parents meddle in their kid’s business way too much.

I’m all about lil’ Hank falling down and knowing what it is to hurt. I want him to be tough. I’m raising a kid, not a porcelain egg. He deserves to learn for himself what it’s like to fall or get a scratch.

I don’t want baby Hank to have bad memories of his parent’s fighting; I don’t think there’s any way to erase that.

People are afraid of everything. The reality is there probably isn’t so much to worry about.

I don’t believe in telling people what to do. You have a choice, you either listen or you don’t.

I keep telling myself life is too short to spend it freaking out over every little thing.

Being a mom has made me relax, it’s calmed me down. I have a better sense of what’s important.

Sometimes arguing is just a reflection of the fact that we want everything to be right.

Sometimes a wife needs to give her husband a good kick in the ass.

I just changed. I think it’s something that just happens when you become a mom. You just grow up.

Being a parent makes you mature whether you like it or not. It was one thing to screw up my life, but it was another to screw up my child’s.

If you are a wife or a mother and you have problems, don’t expect your husband to be able to fix them; go to a therapist.

For me quitting junk food was ten times harder than quitting drugs, because Twinkies and Oreos are so much more readily available and convenient to do than drugs.

I believe eating healthy is just like wearing your seatbelt—you are gambling with your life if you don’t do it.

You can’t really imagine what the situation is like until you’ve been in it, but a husband and a wife hitting each other, that’s a betrayal.

To us date night is very simple: Get ready, go out, go home. No drama.

I was so into Sugar Ray Leonard because I relate to the life of a boxer—getting knocked down and having to get back up and bearing the scars of a million punches.

Don’t listen to what other people say about you.

Right now my job is being me, my talent is being a wife and mother and my goals are trying to keep it all in balance.
