Tarlac

We decided to spend the Holy Week in Tarlac. Visita Iglesia became impossible but we were able to visit 3 churches at least.

April 13-15
It was the first time we bought bus tickets on the same day we'd leave and hopefully that will never happen again. Victory Liner in Pasay though was systematic that even if we arrived around 4am  of Maundy Thursday (chance passengers we're called) we were still able to secure a ticket for a before-lunch Tarlac trip.  We were inside the bus 7am. The problem was just the traffic. It took us 6 effing hours to get to Tarlac what normally would've only been 2 or 3.

Our Lady of Lourdes
That same day after having late lunch inside the hotel and a little rest, we were off to Our Lady of Lourdes. (Brgy Central in Hacienda Luisita patterned after the shrine in France) It was already late afternoon after church so we decided to try this coffee shop we've seen a lot of around.

Church of the Risen Christ
The next day which was Good Friday we were going to Church of the Risen Christ. (in Monasterio de Tarlac in Bgy Lubigan, San Jose) We we're not able to line up for the relic of the True Cross though as the queue was unbelievably long being Holy Week, their busiest most probably. We figured it would be hard to get there without a private car and Uber service isn't yet available in Tarlac. If you're coming from a hotel, you can ask for their transpo service and negotiate. Or brave a tricycle ride which will take you 2-3 hours. However which way the journey would be just as worth it. Maybe soon there would be an easier way to get there especially if the eco park would be just about completely done.

We went next to St. Michael the Archangel Parish (Mac-Arthur Highway, San Miguel) said to be the first parish church in San Miguel.

Before we went back to the hotel we had late lunch in Plaza Luisita, (which surprised us, it was still open: the mall and restaurants) and bought take out dinner too.

For our last day we went to SM Tarlac as it was near the bus terminal. We had lunch and explored a bit. We realized Tarlac was teeming with coffee shops. And a cinema ticket is worth less than P200. (P190 to be exact). There must have also been anything for the children in every floor. Just an observation. The bus terminal was under construction at that time so it wasn't convenient especially under the scorching heat.

I remember Tarlac to be just a stop over place whenever we're heading to Baguio. It was quite a different view now that we've experienced Tarlac a bit.
