food blog: Paul

Paris, France is one of my dream destination so hearing about this "boulangerie and patisserie" that is finally here in Manila, is I know the closest I can taste Paris. It's been in France since 1889 and I heard that once you step in that romantic side of the city, Paul is a must-stop for tourists, and the long lines are a testament to why Paul stayed 124 years long.

We finally had dinner here last Valentine's and I thought the universe conspired with us because despite the bad traffic situation we came right on time and were seated immediately. I thought I’d get to sample their breads and pastries as I had crème brulee, macarons and a slice of chocolate cake in mind for dessert when hubby pala had a different plan after dinner. Everything was actually a surprise. From this dinner date (I’ve been telling him about how I wanted us to try Paul, wish granted.) to watching movie (he purchased our tickets ahead of time in Director’s Club) to trying out chocolate pudding cake in Chateau de France. He was even supposed to gift me a necklace with Eiffel tower pendant, why for some reason didn’t push through I don’t know :)

Anyways so we had dinner here and please see what we tried. And super enjoyed.

Paillasson saumon fume (smoked salmon and soft cheese spread), P250
Salmon is soooo good and the potato pancakes too. the salad makes up for the umay factor in the pancake (because it's big) but the salmon is super yummy and fresh.
Cabillaud Provencal (cod filet served with rice and Provencal vegetables), P570
Cod filet is also super good. Omg if one can only order a bigger serving of this filet even with no side dish, it will be heaven.
Pistachio Macarons frappes (Paul macaroons blended with vanilla cream and milk), P145
Kinda sweet for me but it's still yummy. Apart from pistachio you can also choose to either have raspberry, chocolate, vanilla, coffee or praline.
Green apple celery juice, P180
Nothing special really as I make this at home too, I just wonder why it's pricey. :)

After dinner we headed to Director's Club for the 10pm American Hustle screening. I didn't like how each Lazy Boys weren't spaced apart like those in Mall of Asia's. DC as I mentioned before is my 2nd favorite movie theater next to Resorts World's Premier Cinema because both give you the chance to have this privacy especially when you chance upon rude people inside who talk so loud and don't give a care to those near them. At least when you're spaced apart, there's peace and joy while watching a movie. American Hustle is a good movie. Each and every actors were really so amazing, walang tulak kabigin. Lahat magaling. I was glad we caught it.
